content
In the near future, an epidemic will break out that will turn people into demons. They then attack other people and can combine with machines to form even more dangerous beings. To defend against this threat, the XAT, Xenogenesis Assault Team, is formed as a special police unit. They should also find the cause of the demons. Joseph Jobson is the only one who stayed sane as he turned into a demon. He sets out on his own to fight the demons and defend humanity.
Production and publication
The 24-part series was created based on an idea by Gen Urobuchi , which was further developed together with the game developer Nitro Plus and implemented at Studio Gonzo . Directed by Ichiro Itano , in addition to Urobuchi and Itano, Ai Ota and Yasuko Kobayashi also wrote the scripts . The inspiration for the setting was, among other things, Itano's visit to Germany, where the series is partially set, to Animagic 2005. The character design comes from Niθ and Naoyuki Onda , and the artistic director was Hidenori Sano .
It premiered from April 5 to September 27, 2008 on TV Kanagawa . With some delay, the series was also shown on AT-X , Chiba TV , Sun Television and Television Saitama . An English subtitled version was shown by Animax Asia and published by various online platforms. An English dubbed version was released by Funimation Entertainment and Siren Visual.
