The blue fountain is a karst spring designated as a natural monument in Altdorf , a district of the Titting market in the Eichstätt district , Upper Bavaria in Bavaria .
Surname
It has not been proven that the blue fountain got its name from the bluish shimmering spring water. It is believed that he got the name Flaubrunnen from the earlier rinsing of the laundry (in local dialect, pale ).
description
The blue fountain is located west of Altdorf on the ascent to Brunneck Castle , which takes its name from the source. It is enclosed in a 4 m long, 3 m wide and 1 m high wall and is considered a Bavarian geotope (176Q008). The flowing stream flows into the Anlauter after about 120 m . The average discharge of the karst spring is around 110 liters per second. Since it is a source from the Shallow Karst , the pouring fluctuates very strongly. It can increase threefold after heavy rainfall . In contrast water studies , connections to sinkholes near Pollenfeld and Hegelohe were found. In early times it was believed that the blue fountain had healing powers due to its clear spring water.
