Others

In the neighboring town of Neu-Ulm , only separated from Ulm by the Danube , the Glacis Gallery opened on March 19, 2015, another shopping center with around 24,800 m² and a similar branch mix. This is causing some public criticism, as the two large shopping centers are then only 4.8 km apart. It is feared that, on the one hand, retailers in the inner cities will have to struggle even harder, and on the other, that the Glacis-Galerie will not be able to prevail against the established Ulm city center and the Blautal-Center.

In 2015, the Blautal-Center was renovated and rebuilt for around 15 million euros. In addition to replacing damaged floor tiles, play facilities for children were set up, including a large dragon ship. The main investment, however, was the renovation of the dining area "Speiserei" for four million euros.

Due to the vacancy of more than ten retail spaces, including the former supermarket area with almost 7000 m², the operator is considering converting part of the center for fitness, health or wellness offers. Conversion into apartments is even conceivable.
