Blepharidopterus angulatus is a type of bug from the family of soft bugs (Miridae).
features
The bugs are 4.9 to 5.8 millimeters long. They have a slender, blue-green body with parallel sides. On the splints ( tibia ), which are quite strongly bristled , they have black spots that indicate a knee. Parts of the antennae and also the back corners of the pronotum have black spots like these. The first antenna segment is roughly the same length as the width of the head. The antennae are usually very long in the males. On the tag ( scutellum ) and Hemielytren carry variably colored yellow spots. Both the males and the females are fully winged (macropter) and can fly well.
Occurrence and habitat
The species is distributed throughout Europe and North Africa, as well as east to Central Asia. It was introduced by humans in North America and is widespread there. In Central Europe it occurs frequently everywhere and rises in the Alps to well over 1500 meters above sea level.
More humid, partially shaded habitats are populated, but the bugs can also be found on isolated trees.
Way of life
The bugs feed mainly predatory on various deciduous trees. They are mainly found on alder ( Alnus ) and birch ( Betula ), but also on hazel ( Corylus ), ash ( Fraxinus ), elm ( Ulmus ), linden ( Tilia ), willow ( Salix ), poplar ( Populus ), hornbeam ( Carpinus ) and beeches ( Fagus ). Occasionally suckle the immature seeds of the plants.
