Blood is an EP released in 2003 bythe Polish death metal band Vader .

background

The EP was first released on September 22nd, 2003 when Metal Mind Productions and Metal Blade Records were responsible for the record companies . The mini-album was released in Japan on October 22, 2003 on the Avalon label . The first two tracks were recorded and mixed in July 2003 at RG Studio in Gdańsk , where Michal Mielnik also did the mastering . The recording and mixing of the other songs took place in February and March 2002 in the Red Studio in Gdańsk, and the mastering was done by Bartek Kuźniak in Studio 333 in Częstochowa . Piotr Łukaszewski was responsible for the engineering, the cover and design of the booklet were done by Jacek Wiśniewski.

Son Of Fire is listed in the booklet and on the back cover as the third title, As The Fallen Rise as the fourth title. On the album they can be heard in reverse order.

Blood was Vader's first recording with former Devilyn singer and bassist Marcin “Novy” Nowak and also the last with drummer Krzysztof “Doc” Raczkowski, who died in 2005.

Since guitarist Maurycy "Mauser" Stefanowicz and Raczkowski had already played with him in the band Dies Irae before Marcin Nowak joined him and their guitarist Jacek Hiro also made some guest contributions on Blood , this was the only release by Vader on which all four members of Dies Irae participated.

The EP reached number 44 in the Polish album charts.

Song information

The lyrics of the album contain themes that are common in Death Metal such as destruction, darkness and madness. The cover version Angel Of Death explicitly mentions the 1906 earthquake in San Francisco , the Holocaust and the prophecies of Nostradamus . The third stanza comes from Piotr Wiwczarek and deals with the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001 . The original song is featured on Thin Lizzy's 1981 album Renegade .

Traveler's intro comes from John Dee's translation of the fictional Enochian language .

more publishments

Angel Of Death was already released on April 10, 2002 via Empire Records as a single with the B-side When Darkness Calls .

With the exception of the song Angel Of Death , Blood also appeared in 2003 together with the EP Reign Forever World, which was released in 2000 . The label responsible here was Metal Blade Records.

When Darkness Calls was already included on the 2002 album Revelations , the Japanese version of which also included As The Fallen Rise .

Traveler was included as a bonus on the Polish digipak version of Revelations , the same applies to Son Of Fire on the European digipak edition.

In addition, the EP was released in Japan with the morbid angel cover Immortal Rites as a bonus track. This was recorded in 2000 and used in 2002 for the sampler Tyrants from the Abyss - Tribute to Morbid Angel .

reception

The recipient on metal.de praised Blood as an “extremely short waiting time for the new studio album”, but rated it worse than Reign Forever World . The song When Darkness Calls was stylistically compared to Swedish Death Metal and Angel Of Death was called the EP's “biggest surprise”.

The average rating on metal-archives.com is 88%.
