Blumenau is a district of the rural community town of Schwarzatal in the Saalfeld-Rudolstadt district in Thuringia .

After leaving Mellenbach-Glasbach in the north-west, state roads 1144 and 1112 lead in a northerly direction in a constantly rising mountain valley through the district of Blumenau to Zirkel (district) and further. To the right and left of the valley are wooded slopes of the Thuringian Forest .
history
The district was first mentioned in a document in 1488/89. Until 1918 the place belonged to the sovereignty of the Principality of Schwarzburg-Rudolstadt . In 1923 the villages of Blumenau, Mellenbach, Glasbach, Obstfelderschmiede and Zirkel were combined to form the municipality of Mellenbach-Glasbach. On January 1, 2019, Blumenau became part of the newly founded city and rural community of Schwarzatal .
