season 1

Roberta Navarro, the lover of Patriarch Ernesto de la Mora, hangs herself in the family's flower shop during his fancy birthday party. As a result, many secrets Ernestos be abandoned, he owns next to the flower shop La casa de las Flores , who but housed in a beautiful, intrigues and gossiping drawn district Mexico City's is a run-down variety theater with drag queen shows of the same name. Roberta informs Ernesto's wife, Virginia de la Mora, in a suicide note that she has withdrawn several million pesos from Ernesto's accounts and that Virginia should take in Roberta's and Ernesto's illegitimate daughter, Micaela.

When Ernesto is arrested for his debts, however, in revenge, she removes the evidence that it was Roberta and not Ernesto who misappropriated the money. She is disappointed with her daughter Paulina, who knew about the affair and the other Casa de las Flores and kept it from her. Her other daughter, Elena, has an American boyfriend, Dominique, but through suicide, Roberta's other son, Claudio, grows closer and closer. Virginia's son, Julián, meanwhile, hid his five-year relationship with Diego, the family's financial advisor, while he was in public with Lucía, but is now out to the family as bisexual. When the family's accounts are frozen, Virginia regrets sending Ernesto to jail and must try to raise enough money to pay off Roberta's debt. She does this by selling marijuana , which the local drug seller dislikes. After the sextape that Julián recorded with Diego and a third party was released out of revenge by his ex-girlfriend Lucía, which resulted in him being publicly outed , Julián tries to attract more LGBT customers to the one Casa de las Flores and also leads in the other Casa de las Flores did a male striptease performance. Through the letter from Roberta, which Delia, the de la Moras housekeeper, has also read, the family learns that Virginia was pregnant with Paulina before she married Ernesto and that she was the daughter of the family's pediatrician, Dr. Cohen is. In order to get Ernesto out of prison, she also has to summon the transsexual lawyer María José, her former husband under the name José Maria and the father of her son Bruno, from Spain.

Elena separates from Dominique after her wedding, but then learns that Claudio is not interested in a relationship. Julián Diego represents a marriage proposal , but this is cheating with Mara, a wedding planner. After Diego finds out and Julian hides it, Diego leaves Julian and steals almost all of the de la Moras' money. A recently given donation from Dr. Cohen is no longer enough. In order to be able to celebrate the fiftieth anniversary of the flower casa de las Flores with Ernesto, Virginia sells the flower shop to the warring Chiquis. After the celebration, she encourages Paulina, María José, who actually still loves them, and Bruno, who want to leave for Spain, not to let go, but then leaves the family.

Season 2 and Special

The second season takes place a year after the first; Virginia died eight months before the start of cancer, for which she received therapy in Houston . In the course of the season there are hints of what happened during the funeral, including that Paulina should have had a nervous breakdown. The special, Die Bestattung , published after the season, shows this.

After the death of his wife, Ernesto turned to an esoteric cult, whose followers renounced the material. He becomes the 64th husband of the herd leader Jenny Quetzal, whose herd, which his former cellmate Cacas also joins, billets in the de la Moras house. Micaela has found magic as a new hobby and, with Bruno's help, takes part in a talent show on Mexican television, first as a sorceress, then as a singer, with which she takes part in the final. Paulina moved to Madrid to live with Maria José, her sister Purificación, and Bruno. When Virginia's will is challenged, she returns to Mexico. She would like to buy back the cabaret that Ernesto sold in order to use the profit to get the flower shop back from the Chiquis and thus get revenge on Diego. He visits Julian again, who meanwhile has a child with Lucia, and pays the hospital bills for Julian and the cabaret, which he leaves Paulina to run, in order to regain the family's trust. She recruits the drag queens and, when they don't bring in enough money, on a suggestion from Julian, who works as a call boy, an escort service whose contracts are under Diego's signature. After the siblings find out that Virginia is said to have had a lover in Houston, Paulina meets with him, Alejo Salvat.

Elena, now a successful architect who is supposed to convert the flower shop into an aquarium for the Chiquis, discovers that she is addicted to relationships and goes with Delia to meetings of those affected, where she meets the priest Simon, with whom she falls in love. Julian has a relationship with Diego again and takes care of the child with Lucia, but Diego discovers and reveals to him that the child is not his. Now that Julian is depressed, Diego wants to have his own child with him and therefore sleeps with Elena, who also wants to start a family. In the meantime, Paulina has made sure that one of the drag queens reports Diego to the police about the escort service, which then arrests him. But when the will of Virginia is finally read out, it turns out that Alejo Salvat had contested the will, Paulina has to realize that Diego was innocent and delivers herself to the police so that he can be released. In the end, Jenny is wanted by the police and crashes into Elena's car while trying to escape. When the Chiquis want to tear down the aquarium, Virginia's mother appears and saves her property.

season 3

In addition to the plot in the present, this season also includes scenes that take place forty years earlier (1979/80) and show Virginia, Ernesto, Salomon Cohen (who later became the pediatrician) and Carmela (who later became the family's neighbor) young.

1979/80 : Virginia is with Salomon, close friends with Ernesto and also with the gay Patricio "Pato"; Carmela is just joining the group of friends. Virginia loses her virginity on Pato and sleeps with Solomon a week later. When she finds out that she is pregnant, she doesn't know from whom of the two. She proposes to Solomon, but he will marry a woman of his culture, Judaism. When her mother learns of the pregnancy, Virginia is supposed to marry Agustín Corcuera (the future father of the Chiquis), who is secretly with Pato. Meanwhile, Virginia's father is locked in his room, seriously ill, and Victoria has hired a new nurse, Silvia "Chiva", to give him his medicine. One day he's gone and Virginia's mother tells Victoria that he just left her. Pato appears at Virginia's engagement party and she sees him kissing Agustin. He finds Silvia's medallion in the garden and presses her until she reveals a secret, but Virginia doesn't want to hear it. At a New Year's party, she wants to know the secret from him and he says that her mother killed her father, which she doesn't believe. Pato also makes public that Agustin is gay, who then beats him up with his friends until he remains lifeless. The next day Victoria replaced Silvia with Delia. Virginia suggests to Ernesto, whose family is in debt, that they both marry, for which he leaves Carmela, who he says is the father of Virginia's child. It is named Paulina after Patricio's drag persona.

2019 : Paulina is initially threatened in prison by Jenny Quetzal and an old woman named Chiva. Purificación poses as Maria José to secretly see to it that Paulina never comes out. Jenny organizes a prison break that leaves Paulina behind, but shortly afterwards Maria José gets her out. Because Purificación is freaking out due to her mental instability and continues to pretend to be her sister, she takes her to a psychiatric institution. Paulina wants to find out with Maria José who Chiva is and learns that her only witness, Patricio, did not appear. Ernesto, who gets back together with Carmela, tells her how Pato died on New Year's Day and that this is probably her real father. With the new knowledge that Pato did not just let her sit, Chiva tells her story: Victoria gave her husband sedatives and killed him with an overdose. She had Silvia bury it in the garden, which Pato found out. On New Year's Day, Silvia decided to tell the police, but the police chief who was a friend of Victoria instead arrested Silvia for stealing Victoria's jewelry. Victoria mistreated Delia in the house and was sedated by her so Delia could escape. In the event of a power outage, Victoria hunts Delia in the dark, whereupon Paulina and Maria José, who wanted to confront her, watch as Victoria falls fatally on the stairs. Paulina and Maria José get married a second time.

Elena is meanwhile in a coma and the family learns that she is pregnant. Diego visits his homophobic parents to tell them they will be grandparents; they tell him that Fercito has been cured by conversion therapy . On her first day in freedom, Paulina visits Elena and has more tests done, which reveal that the coma pregnancy could endanger Elena's life, but then Elena wakes up but does not remember who the father could be. Victoria has since thrown out Ernesto and Julián, who are staying in the cabaret, which is now run by the drag queen Valentina , and is bringing Elena home instead. Victoria sedates Elena with tea and wants to marry her off to someone rich, but a former architecture colleague, Pablo, helps her escape. Because Julián left Diego because he slept with Elena, Diego goes to conversion therapy so that he can have a family, where he receives electric shocks, among other things. After Julián Elena convinces that Diego is the father, they get him out of therapy with the help of his parents. When the baby arrives, Elena and Pablo, Julián and Diego decide to raise it with four people and name it Patricio. Elena offers the Delia flower shop, which has already opened her own.

criticism

Kayla Cobb from Decider calls flowery prospects the "Mexican Desperate Housewives " and thought the series was "not great", but praised its "willingness to be 'shabby'". The series was praised for its processing of topics such as bisexual and transsexuality and, according to Intomore, combines the "kitschy telenovela flair [...] with an astute script, which makes it not only believable, but relatable ." The role of Paulina de la Mora, played by Cecilia Suárez, who has a special way of speaking, was particularly emphasized . According to paddylastinc.com , “La Casa [de las Flores] was marketed as a dramedy series with a twist. Yes, there are a lot of twists - mostly predictable twists. What [the series] lacks in originality is made up for by the charming cast and diverse characters. ”Brenden Gallagher of The Daily Dot called the series light-hearted and adventurous, but lacking character development and the show had even more of the limits the usual telenovela genre.
