Sheryl Dayana Rubio Rojas (born December 28, 1992 in Caracas , Venezuela ) is a Venezuelan actress , singer , model , dancer , songwriter and producer of web videos . The model gained international fame through the role of "Sheryl Sánchez" in the Boomerang Latin America series Somos tú y yo . (2007-2009). Rubio has appeared as Lucia Davila in the Netflix series Flowery Outlook since 2018 .

life and career

Sheryl Rubio was born in Caracas , Venezuela . Her parents are Oscar Rubio and Damaris Rojas, she had an older sister, Damaris Belmonte, who was murdered by her boyfriend in 1997. The actress was 5 years old when this happened and she confessed it was a hard blow to both her and her mother. This experience has led to women playing the leading role in various UN Women against gender-based violence and women's rights. Rubio studied at the Colegio San José de Tarbes in Caracas and found that she was not very popular at school and was even bullied. She became interested in acting at the age of seven and began her career with small roles on television.

In 1999 Rubio began an acting career. She started appearing in a number of commercials before moving on to television. Rubio made her acting debut in the telenovela Amantes de luna llena in 2000 when she was 8 years old and played Angela Rigores.

In 2001 she portrayed Micaela Benavides in the telenovela La Soberana . In 2002 Rubio received her first leading role on television as Renata Antoni Diaz in La niña de mis ojos .

In 2005, at the age of 11, she started working on the TV show Atómico . In 2006 the casting for Somos tú y yo began . The main concern of the casting directors was to find the right protagonist for the series. The actress appeared at the casting and the producers were impressed by the confidence the young woman had in herself. The actress was chosen to be the protagonist of the series. The series was a co-production between the Boomerang and Venevisión , and the series aired in Latin America, Europe , the Middle East and Asia . The series premiered on June 27, 2007 in Venezuela by Venevisión. The series premiered on January 15, 2008 by Boomerang in Latin America and Europe. In 2008 the cast toured Venezuela and played songs from the series. When the show ended in 2009, a compilation album of ten songs from the series was released, entitled Somos tú y yo, un nuevo día .

In January 2009 Rubio was on television and participated in the television series Somos tú y yo, un nuevo día , in which she played the characters Sheryl Sanchez and Candy. The series is a spin-off from Somos tú yo and is based on the American film Grease . The series premiered on August 17, 2009 by Boomerang.

In January 2010 she repeated her role as Sheryl Sanchez in the series NPS: No puede ser . The series is the second spin-off from Somos tú y yo and marks the conclusion of the series, which premiered for the first time on July 25, 2010 in Venezuela by Venevisión and on November 8, 2010 by the Latin American chain Boomerang. In the same year she portrayed Sofia Carlota in her debut La viuda joven by Martin Hahn . The telenovela was based on the Spanish Carmen Cervera . The telenovela was premiered on March 16, 2011 by Venevisión.

In 2011 she played Stefany Miller in the telenovela Mi ex me tiene ganas, written by Martin Hahn and produced by Sandra Rioboó . The telenovela premiered on May 16, 2012 by Venevisión and ended on December 5, 2012. Rubio received positive feedback on the character of the media in Latin America. This character marks her acting growth in a more mature character. That same year, Rubio was named a judge in the Miss Teen Aruba International 2012 beauty pageant .

In 2012 she sang the song "Quiero que vuelvas" with Lasso. In 2013 Rubio played two live shows in Caracas and Maracaibo and gave a monologue by Amaris Páez entitled "Sheryl's Confession".

In January 2014 she took part in the telenovela Corazón Esmeralda . Rubio's character is a singer-songwriter and she plays a number of songs on the series. The telenovela was premiered on March 3, 2014 by Venevisión. That same year, Rubio worked with clothing company Melao on a clothing line that would be sold across Venezuela.

In August 2014 Rubio, in collaboration with Melao, previewed Sheryl Rubio, which they unveiled in October 2014 at Centro Sambil in Caracas.

In 2015 she played Ángela Mendori in an episode of the series Escándalos , which was based on the kidnappings of Cleveland, Ohio , which took place in the USA between 2002 and 2004. In August 2015, she played the role of Malibu in the television series Los Hijos de Don Juan .

In August 2016 she played in the upload project campaign with StandWithUs and the Israeli non-profit organization together with Candelaria Molfese , for which the actress wants to promote tourism in Israel for a few days in the cities of Tel Aviv and Jerusalem .

In September 2016, Netflix and Telemundo announced that Rubio would be featured in their new series Guerra de ídolos, due to start in 2017.

In 2018, she starred in the Netflix original series Flowery Outlook .
