Blur is the fifth studio album by the British rock band Blur . It was released on February 10, 1997 and is her best-selling album to this day.

The self-titled album represents a bold step as it turns relatively radically away from the band's previous sound, which had become their trademark during the years of the Britpop boom from 1993 to 1996. Until then, it was primarily classical elements of British pop history and its most important protagonists, such as the Beatles , The Clash , the Kinks and XTC , that shaped the music of Blur, now much stronger American indie rock and lo-fi influences could be heard, such as the bands Pavement and Guided by Voices . The band's preference for punk came to the fore more clearly than before, and Albarn's interest in dub music for the first time on Essex Dogs . Blur differentiated themselves from Britpop contemporaries (above all Oasis ), who remained largely true to their previous sound and allowed less experiments to flow into their music. Only the first single Beetlebum and Look Inside America are still in Britpop and Pop from the late 1960s, of the remaining album tracks, the punk evergreen song 2 in particular became known to a wider audience and is now probably the band's most popular song.
