Blood must flow - Undercover under Nazis is a documentary film and book about the conspiratorial milieu of right-wing rock concerts in Germany from 2012.

action

The film is based on nine years of covert film research by the journalist Thomas Kuban at Nazi concerts, which depicts the extreme willingness to use violence and repeated incitement to hatred.

background

The title Blood must flow refers to the refrain of the quoted song Blut , an anti-Semitic variant of the Heckerlied , which “belongs to the repertoire of many right-wing extremist bands” and is “a symbol of representation or identity for radical circles”.

The film itself deals with the concert scene, its background and the public and political image. Many concerts are organized by the forbidden network Blood and Honor , Division 28, but also by the NPD and its youth organization Young National Democrats , during which criminal offenses, mostly sedition, occur.

The concealed concert recordings are the main part of the film. From the perspective of a buttonhole camera, concerts are shown with texts mainly calling for violence. The audience also chants the texts and supports their expression by showing the forbidden Hitler salute .

The hidden filming and the social and political background are documented as a framework. The film also criticizes security authorities, which rarely intervene, and the political relativization of right-wing rock, but introduces citizens' initiatives that have successfully fought against right-wing rock.

The cameraman, who works under the pseudonym Thomas Kuban, appears as the protagonist, but for his own protection he is not shown recognizable.

Blood must flow was privately financed and not supported by any film or television company.

The film has not yet been released, but director Peter Ohlendorf will be showing it on a film tour. It was shown at the Berlinale 2012 and received 2nd prize in the 2012 Alternative Media Prize .
