Bo Ericson (athlete)

Bo Evert Ericson (born January 28, 1919 in Västra Frölunda, Gothenburg , † February 14, 1970 in Karlstad ) was a Swedish athlete . With a height of 1.88 m, his competition weight was 103 kg.

As early as 1941, Ericson set his first Swedish hammer throw record with 56.66 m . In the following ten years he was a constant at the top of the Swedish hammer thrower. In 1945 Ericson led the world best list with 56.04 man. At the European Championships in Oslo in 1946 he won the title with 56.44 m and 2.90 meters ahead of his compatriot Eric Johansson . In 1947 he threw his last Swedish record with 57.19 m, which was to last until 1955.

At the Olympic Games in London in 1948 he was sixth with 52.98 m and 75 centimeters behind on the bronze place. From 1947 to 1951 he won the Swedish championship every year, but no longer took part in the European Championships in 1950 .
