Robert Quibel

Robert "Bob" Quibel (born October 12, 1930 in Le Havre ; † January 17, 2013 ) was a French jazz bassist, arranger, composer and orchestra leader who became known in France primarily for his television activities.

Life

In 1962 Quibel played in Claude Bolling's trio with drummer Peter Giger . In 1962/63 he was also a member of the Bolling Sextet. In 1963 he was a member of The 4 Trombones Incorporated , which was founded by trombonist Raymond Fonsèque , with Charles Orieux, Michel Camicas , François Guin and with Bernard Vitet , Jean-Louis Chautemps and Peter Giger. In 1968 he played with Raymond Fonsèque, François Guin, Luis Fuentes, Christian Guizien, Charles Rieux and Slide Hampton ( Concert de Jazz au Studio 105 ).

From 1964 he worked for the television presenter Jacques Martin and his television programs, a. a. from 1977 to 1998 in L'École des fans , from 1980 to 1985 for the television show Thé dansant , for Si j'ai bonne mémoire (1983–85) and Ainsi font, font, font (1989–1996). In addition to music for Jacques Martin's various television programs, Quibel wrote A la mémoire de Duke Ellington . Quibel also worked with Paul Anka , Serge Reggiani , Catherine Sauvage and Edith Piaf , whom he accompanied at their last concert at the Paris Olympia . In the field of jazz Quibel took part in 13 recording sessions between 1962 and 1965.
