Bobryzja ( Ukrainian Бобриця ; Russian Бобрица Bobriza ) is a village in the Ukrainian Oblast of Kiev with about 740 inhabitants (2015).
The village has a primary school, a house of culture, a museum and a library as well as a doctor and midwife house and the Church of the Blessed Virgin.
In the village there are year-round cultural events such as performances, concerts, exhibitions by artists and film screenings. Sculptures by modern, well-known sculptors, which were created during the annual international sculpture symposium , are exhibited in the Bobryzja Sculpture Park .
history
The first information about the village, first mentioned in writing in 1616, comes from the 10th – 11th centuries. Century, when the defensive line of the Grand Duchy of Kiev ran the snake walls , some of which are still visible in the area today. The name of the village comes from beaver , as there were numerous beaver populations in the rivers around the village. 1648 is seen as the official founding year of the village as an administrative unit of the "Bobryzja settlement". At the time, the Bobrytsia lands were owned by the St. Michael Monastery in Kiev, which was confirmed by Hetman Ivan Masepa on August 20, 1699.
At the 2001 census, the village had 565 inhabitants.
Geographical location
The village is located at an altitude of 164 m near the mouth of the 14 km long, mostly dammed Bobryzja ( Бобриця ) into the Irpin , 4 km southwest of Bilohorodka , 10 km northwest of the city of Boyarka and 30 km southwest of the city center of Kiev .
Bobryzja is the only village in the district council of the same name in Kiev-Svyatoschyn district .
