The Bocksbeutelstrasse is a holiday route in Weinfranken . It belongs to the German wine routes and is named after the Bocksbeutel container that is typical for Franconian wine . The route consists of a larger part, which opens up the heartland of the Franconian wine region , the Lower Franconian Bocksbeutelstrasse and the much smaller Middle Franconian Bocksbeutelstrasse.

history

The initiative to build a wine route in Franconia came about after the Second World War; At that time it was assumed that wherever Franconian wine grows, the Bocksbeutelstrasse also runs. The focus was later on the highlights of the region, which can be found in the numerous cities, castles, monasteries and wine-growing villages.

Course of the road

Würzburg is the starting point of the Lower Franconian Bocksbeutelstrasse. To the west the developed area extends to Aschaffenburg , to the east to Castell , Iphofen and Ippesheim , to the northeast to Schweinfurt , to the north to Hammelburg and to the south to Sommerhausen , Ochsenfurt and the Tauber valley .

The Mittelfränkische Bocksbeutelstrasse opens up the areas of the Franconian wine villages at the southwestern end of the Steigerwald between Bullenheim in the northwest, on the Lower Franconian border and Bad Windsheim in the southeast.
