The Boddenkieker is a passenger ship of the passenger company Kruse und Voß GmbH from Wustrow .

history

The vehicle was built with construction number 146 at the Schmidt shipyard in Oberkassel for Wilhelm Becker from Urfeld and was launched in 1963. Becker was one of the first to operate provision boats . The ship was probably put into service as Will in 1964 and served as a supply boat for cargo ships on the Rhine . In 1985 it was sold to Friedrichstadt and converted into a passenger ship. The boat was lengthened and re-motorized. The vehicle was probably renamed Schwabstedt at that time . It operated from 1986 to 1990 on the Eider and had its home port in Hoopte near Hamburg. In 1990 Bernd Kruse and Karl-Heinz Voss from Wustrow bought the ship. It was used as the first ship of the shipping company for Bodden tours. Between 1994 and 1995 it was chartered for harbor tours by a shipping company from Warnemünde. The ship is used by the passenger company Kruse and Voss in regular service on the Saaler Bodden between Ribnitz, Dierhagen and Wustrow. Bicycles can be transported. The ship can be used all year round and weddings can be carried out on board.

The hull and the superstructure of the vehicle are made of steel. The motor ship is designed for coastal waters and reaches a maximum speed of 19 km / h with its 150 hp engine. The vehicle is approved for up to 189 passengers. It is driven and controlled by a Schottel rudder propeller .

Note on the ship names

According to contemporary witnesses, the ship was put into service as Will . This is supported by the tradition of naming the provision boats with female or male first names that were common in the past. There is no reference to this in the literature cited. The name Schwabstedt has only been clearly documented since 1985.
