history

The first settlement in the area of the village was most likely already in the 9th century. In 1126 Bojendorf was mentioned as "Potechendorf", 1337 as "Pothechendorf", later as "Poichendorf" and "Potichendorf". The area was ruled from 1118 to 1244 by the imperial princes von Arnstein, until 1248 by the dukes of Merania . In 1306 Arnstein and Poichendorf were sold to the Bishop of Bamberg . From the years 13331 the spelling of the place with "Podechendorf" and 1360 as "Poychendorf" is handed down. The name could refer to both the Germanic nickname Poticho and the Slavic name Potecha .

As part of the regional reform in Bavaria , Bojendorf was incorporated into the municipality of Wattendorf on May 1, 1978 . Before that, it had formed its own community with Moraviahüll .
