In the Waldemar- Erdbuch from 1231 Bojendorf Boyaenthorp is called with 6 mansi.

The formal course of a thing meeting has been handed down. Dat Ding (Thing) was subject to a strict law of peace and was held in the enclosed dee Buur . A thing session was opened with the words Dat Ding is apen! Un dee Buur is too . Until around 1700 special resolutions were called out loud in all four winds . Closing words of the word holder: Dee Ding is schlaten, dee Buur is apen .

Because of its corridors, which are only just above sea level, Bojendorf was often flooded in the past. 17 houses were badly damaged in the storm surge of 1872 . Only since the dyke was built from 1872 to 1874 have residents been safe from flooding. By 2003, the dike west of Bojendorf was raised by half a meter and partially relocated to the interior of the island.

Geographical location

Bojendorf is located in the west of the island of Fehmarn on the Baltic Sea , about one kilometer from Bojendorfer Strand and Wallnauer Strand . Bojendorf is three kilometers away from Petersdorf . The area of the village hall is about 160 hectares.

There used to be a small boat harbor north of Bojendorf. The field name Havenkamp still indicates this function today. The village name is also traced back to the designation for small ships (buoy - small barque or barge ).
