Albertsdorf is a district of the city of Fehmarn , Ostholstein district in Schleswig-Holstein .

The village is located in the southwest of the island of Fehmarn about 1 km from the sea. Until 1872 it was connected to the Baltic Sea by a canal. Even today, the townscape is characterized by two village ponds, some houses still roofed with thatch, and agriculture.

Attractions

In the south of the village there is a dodel stone on the main road . On Fehmarn, this term describes a stone with a house brand that marks the boundaries of a farm or property. House brand is a symbol on Fehmarn that used to be used to identify the buildings, equipment, boundary stones and the like belonging to a particular house. Only free farmers had their own brands, but not day laborers or craftsmen. Originally over 200 different house brands were in use on Fehmarn. Some of them resembled Germanic runes or geometric figures. As a result, dodel stones were widely used as border markings, but only a few are preserved today. House brands, which were also used as seals or as a substitute for a signature until the 17th century, are rarely seen today, e.g. B. on the prayer stools in the St. Petri Church in Landkirchen or on the pews in St. Nikolai in Burg auf Fehmarn . The house brand can also be seen on the Aalhus, a thatched half-timbered house in Landkirchen .

Also worth seeing is the Alversteen , an approximately 5500 year old megalithic grave from the Neolithic Age , which is located about 1 km southwest of the village on the Baltic Sea dike.

At the census on May 25, 1987, the village had 82 inhabitants in 27 households. At that time it belonged to the municipality of Landkirchen auf Fehmarn , after the previously independent municipality was incorporated into Avendorf and Avendorf on January 1, 1978 in Landkirchen in 1937 .
