Location of Niendorf in Fehmarn

Niendorf is a village on the island of Fehmarn and a district of the city of Fehmarn in the Ostholstein district in Schleswig-Holstein .

history

In the Waldemar-Erdbuch from 1231 the place is mentioned Nyænthorp . At that time, the village boundary had a size of almost 500 hectares, which corresponds to the village average of Fehmarn. Niendorf formed a strictly closed village rectangle until the middle of the 19th century. In the south it was bounded by the communal pasture area, to the other directions by private farmland.

The big house

The big house was a large Niendorf farmhouse, probably from the beginning of the 17th century. According to a bankruptcy estimate in 1656, the house measured 14 × 27 meters and had 10 rooms. Ceilings and beams were decorated with paintings. The so-called grote döns at the rear was 7 meters wide and was therefore just as wide as the grote deel , which extended to 7 of 12 compartments in the front part of the house. On one side were the kitchen, bakery and chambers, while on the other side there were chambers and stables.

At the beginning of the 20th century the house was described as follows: “One is amazed at the abundance of beautiful details: large, wide windows with 2 - 3 posts and a number of small panes in lead. The heavy oak woodwork is mostly oiled. The compartments are lined with bricks. In a decorative bandage. The attic storeys protrude, the lugs and thresholds show simple, well-designed valleys. "

The house was lost in the middle of the 20th century after part of the beam was shipped to the USA and rebuilt there. The remainder in Niendorf fell into disrepair.
