Johannes Marius "Bok" de Korver (born January 27, 1883 in Rotterdam , † October 22, 1957 ibid) was a Dutch football player .

Career

De Korver played for Volharding Rotterdam in his youth before moving to Sparta Rotterdam in 1902 and was part of the club until 1923. With the team he won the championship five times and was one of the most popular football players of his time.

From 1905 to 1913 he played as a middle runner 31 international matches for the national team and scored two goals. He made his debut on April 30, 1905 in Antwerp in a 4-1 victory over Belgium - the first official international match for a Dutch national team. He scored his first international goal on May 14, 1905 in Rotterdam in a 4-0 win - again against Belgium - with the goal to make it 1-0 in the 74th minute. He played his last international game on November 15, 1913 in Hull in the 1: 2 defeat against an amateur national team from England.

From October 19 to 24, 1908, he took part with the national team at the Olympic football tournament in London and played the semi-finals , which were lost 4-0 against England , and the bronze- match won 2-0 against Sweden . From June 29 to July 4, 1912, he again took part in the Olympic football tournament in Stockholm , but as team captain only played the last sixteen, won 4: 3 a.d. against Sweden's selection . Nevertheless, like four years before, he won the bronze medal again , as his team beat Finland's selection 9-0 in the game for bronze after losing 4-1 to Denmark's semi-finals .
