Boleslaw von Szankowski
Boleslaw von Szankowski ( Polish Bolesław Szańkowski , * 1873 in Warsaw , † 1953 in Fischbachau ) was a Polish portrait painter who worked in Munich .
life and work
Szankowski studied first at the Art Academy in Cracow with Jan Matejko from 1890 to 1893 , from October 30, 1894 at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich with Johann Caspar Herterich and in Paris with Jean-Joseph Benjamin-Constant , Jean-Paul Laurens and Antonio de la Gandara . From 1906 he worked in Munich.
Szankowski earned his reputation as a portrait painter. His works were equally well received by court society and in large-scale industrial circles. In the years from 1907 to 1925 he participated in the annual exhibitions of the Munich Glass Palace . His works appeared in “ Jugend ” and “ Simplicissimus ”.
