The Bolshaya ( Russian Больша́я, Ба́лка Больша́я ) is a left tributary of the Kalitwa in the southern Russian Oblast of Rostov .

The Bolshaya rises on the southern flank of the Danube ridge . It flows in a south-south-west direction and after 152 km reaches the Kalitwa. It is mainly fed by the snowmelt . Their upper reaches often fall dry in summer. Important tributaries of the Bolshaya are Metschetka and Nagolnaya , both from the left. The catchment area of the Bolshaya covers 2160 km².
