The Bolshaya Loptjuga ( Russian Большая Лоптюга ) is a left tributary of the Mesen in the Komi Republic in northwestern Russia .
It rises near the border with Arkhangelsk Oblast northwest of the settlement Jarenga on the watershed between the river systems of the Mesen and the Northern Dvina . It flows first in an easterly direction, later in a northerly direction. The road between Mikun and Koslan runs east of the lower reaches and crosses the Bolshaya Loptjuga not far from the river mouth.
