variants

China

The first trains from the Zefiro family are built for CRH in the People's Republic of China. Bombardier Transportation founded the joint venture Bombardier Sifang (Qingdao) Transportation Ltd. with Nanche Sifang (South China locomotive and rolling stock industry) to build the Chinese trains .

ZEFIRO 250

In 2007 the Chinese Ministry of Railways ordered a total of 40 multiple units with 16 cars each. According to the manufacturer, this is the largest order to date in the passenger train sector in the history of Chinese rail transport. The trains are manufactured in China. The first trains went into operation in April 2009. The trains are built in the versions CRH1B and CRH1E.

CRH1A-A

The CRH1A-A series is an 8-part multiple unit with a speed of 250 km / h, which was ordered from BST in May 2012 with a number of 60 trains as part of the ZEFIRO380 contract change. Since this is the further development of the CRH1 u. a. deals with an aluminum car body, it is also called CRH1-NG.

CRH1B

The CRH1B are day trains that are equipped with 1299 seats in two classes. They have been in use since April 2009.

CRH1E

The CRH1E are night trains that are equipped with 618 seats in two sleeping car classes and seats in the control car. They have been in use on the Beijing – Shanghai route since November 2009.

ZEFIRO 380 (CRH380D)

At the end of September 2009, the Chinese Ministry of Railways ordered 80 additional multiple units for operating speeds of up to 380 km / h. The original order included 20 trains with 8 cars and 60 trains with 16 cars to be delivered from 2012 to 2016. As a result of a contract change in May 2012, the number was reduced to 70 trains with 8 cars each and a further 106 CRH1A trains (of which 60 were NG with aluminum car bodies) were ordered as compensation. A further 15 trains were ordered in September 2015. The entire fleet was delivered by mid-2016 and is spread across the depots in Shanghai, Chongqing and Chengdu. This version was developed at Bombardier's Hennigsdorf site near Berlin. The detailed construction for the production was carried out by the joint venture partner Bombardier-Sifang-Transportation (BST) in Qingdao . The trains have been given the designation CRH380D ( CRH380DL was intended for the 16-part version).

ETR1000 - V300Zefiro

On August 5, 2010, Trenitalia placed an order for the delivery of 50 high-speed trains based on the Zefiro platform to a consortium of Bombardier Transportation and AnsaldoBreda . The multi-system, 200 m long and 600 seat trains are to be comprehensively adapted for European conditions ( TSI ). The maximum operational speed of the trains should be 360 km / h. A first prototype should be available within 300 days; commercial operation is planned from 2013. An offer from competitor Alstom (35 million euros per train) was unsuccessful. On March 26, 2013, the first train was presented to the public at the AnsaldoBreda plant in Pistoia .
