Boris von Bodisco (born August 8, 1897 in Tallinn , † September 26, 1973 in Lindenberg i. Allgäu ) was a German architect and painter.

life and work

Boris von Bodisco, son of the Baltic German lawyer and state official Eduard Michael von Bosdisco (1863–1940) and his wife Theophile (1873–1944), built the “Home of the Hitler Youth” in Berlin-Frohnau in 1940 . In 1944, he also built the House of Youth in Berlin-Reinickendorf for the Hitler Youth , which is now a listed building. During the Nazi era he was a member of the Reichskunstkammer in Berlin .

After the end of the Second World War , he and Walther Schmidt built rural schools in the town and district of Lindau from prefabricated elements. Also with Walther Schmidt, he built the Lindau International Casino as a temporary solution in wood construction, which, however, lasted for 40 years - a new building was not erected until 1997-2000. In 1956, Bodisco founded the “Society of Friends of Art Lindau” together with the sculptor Berthold Müller-Oerlinghausen (1893–1979), where he also exhibited.

He was married to Gerda von Bodisco (1913–1981), who was also a member of the Berlin Reich Chamber of Art.

Both sons were the set and costume designer Dirk von Bodisco .
