The Borung Highway is a trunk road in the west of the Australian state of Victoria . It connects the Western Highway in Dimboola with the Calder Highway in Charlton .
course
In the eastern part of Dimboola, the Borung Highway branches off from the Western Highway (NA8) to the northeast. After 41 km he reaches the town of Waracknabeal , where he crosses the Henty Highway (B200). Then he continues his way east and reaches the Sunraysia Highway (B220) at Litchfield .
Together with the Sunraysia Highway it leads east to the village of Donald south of Lake Buloke .
There it turns east-northeast and leads to Charlton on the Avoca River , where it reaches the Calder Highway (A79) and ends.
The 31 km long side road that runs east from Charlton to the small town of Borung is called Borung Road and is not part of the highway, even though it was originally planned to be extended to Borung.
Numbering and meaning
The route from Dimboola to Donald is number C234. From Donald to Charlton, the street is designated as C239.
The latter section is also the busiest, apart from the section between Litchfield and Donald, in which the Borung Highway runs together with the much more important Sunraysia Highway. In the other sections of the route, the Borung Highway is a subordinate local connecting road.
The more interesting aspect is a touristy one: the highway leads through idyllic farmland that stretches over rolling hills. In between, lakes appear, repeatedly surprising for tourists. Typical of the landscape are the Buloke trees ("Bull Oak", Allocasuarina luehmannii ), a type of casuarina after which the Local Government Area Buloke Shire was named.
