Architecture and history

On May 5, 1890 it was decided to build a new boys' middle school . The Bosseschule was built in 1891/1892 on the site of the Franciscan monastery that was demolished in the 19th century. The building was built in the neo-renaissance style. The facade was made with clinker bricks. Decorative elements were made from sandstone . The appearance of the house is characterized by two side risalits crowned with triangular gables .

The inauguration of the school took place on October 17, 1892. In 1893 the school became a six-level boys' elementary school. From April 3, 1894, the second floor was used as a municipal secondary school. On April 17, 1905, the school was named Bosse School after the former Prussian Minister of Education and Cultural Affairs Robert Bosse, who was born in Quedlinburg and who died in 1901 . On August 6, 1930, the school became a middle school for girls and boys. After the school was run as an elementary school in 1947 , there was a differentiation into Oberschule I and II from September 1, 1949. From 1959 to 1982 the school was called Oberschule I until 1983 when it was named Maxim-Gorki-Oberschule . In 1991/1992 the conversion to a secondary school took place, at the same time the school was given its original name Bosseschule.
