The church in Bräkne-Hoby ( Swedish: Bräkne-Hoby kyrka ) is a 19th century church building in the southern Swedish town of Bräkne-Hoby . The church is surrounded by the churchyard.

history

A church built in the 12th century was located roughly in the same place as the present church.

The church was built from 1868 to 1872 according to plans by Helgo Zettervall . From 1958 to 1959 the building was completely renovated.

Building description

The church is a brick basilica with three naves . It has a church tower with a clock and a round arch portal. The central nave has 21 upper aisles on each side . The two side aisles have large arched windows.

Furnishing

Some of the furnishings come from the previous church from the 12th century. There are many graves in the corridor.

The baptismal font is made of Åhus sandstone and dates from the 13th century. The altar panel hanging in the sacristy is from the 17th century. The pulpit also dates from the 17th century, namely from 1634 .

The grandfather clock dates from 1831 . The wooden ceiling is painted.

Organs

The old organ was made in the workshop of CA Johansson in Broaryd in 1870 . It cost 6,000 Reichstaler donated by the merchant Magnus Magni from Järnavik. In 1906 and 1985 the organ was restored.

The choir organ dates from 1970.
