Bräunisheim is a suburb of the municipality of Amstetten in the Alb-Donau district in Baden-Württemberg .

history

Settlement evidence is already available from the late Bronze Age, the Iron Age and Roman times, archaeological finds in the local area prove a settlement since the Merovingian period.

The place was first mentioned in a document in 1143. After it was pledged to Ulm in 1382 , the village belonged completely to the imperial city of Ulm in 1480. In 1803 Bräunisheim came temporarily to Bavaria , and in 1810 to the Kingdom of Württemberg , where it was assigned to the Oberamt Geislingen . When the districts were introduced in 1938, Bräunisheim became part of the Ulm district .

With the regional reform in Baden-Württemberg , Bräunisheim was incorporated into Amstetten on December 1, 1973. His previous suburb of Sontbergen , however, was assigned to Gerstetten ( Heidenheim district ).

In Bräunisheim, a locality within the meaning of the Baden-Württemberg municipal code with its own local council and local mayor has been set up on the territory of the former municipality . It only includes the village of Bräunisheim.
