Brno-Rossitz Railway

The kk privileged Brno-Rossitzer Railway (BRE) was a private railway company in Austria whose routes were in what is now the Czech Republic .

history

The BRE routes with a total length of 28.922 km were opened between January 2, 1856 and January 5, 1873. The starting point of the route was the Rossitz railway station in Brno, today's Brno dolní nádraží (Brno Lower Railway Station).

With effect from January 1, 1879, the BRE came into the possession of the Staats-Eisenbahn-Gesellschaft (StEG). After the nationalization of the StEG in 1909, the former BRE lines came into state ownership.
