The Braakberg is a 645.5  m above sea level. NHN high mountain of the Harz low mountain range . It is located near Lonau in the non-parish Harz region of the Göttingen district in Lower Saxony ( Germany ).

The Braakberg is located in the southern Harz in the Harz National Park about 2.4 km north of Lonau . In the north it goes into the mountain ridge Auf dem Acker . The mountain lies on the watershed between Großer Steinau in the west and Kleiner Lonau in the east.

Minor peaks

The Kargeskopf and the Franzosenkopf are southern branches of the Braakberg. In a broader sense, the ridge that continues to the southwest is also known as Braakberg , especially its southwestern foothill, which is located west of Lonau and has a 512.1  m high secondary peak of the same name ( ) there.

Cliffs and rocks

In the transition region from the Braakberg to the reel head (about  749  m ), an elevation in the southwestern part of the ridge on the field , is about 500 meters north-northwest of the peak of a mountain, the Sophie cliff (max approx.  650  m ) and about 700 m northwest the Spießer cliff ( max. approx.  640  m ).

Forest cover

The Braakberg is overgrown with spruce trees in the higher elevations and beech trees further down.
