The Funkjournal (formerly Brackweder Funkjournal ) is a monthly radio show broadcast by Radio Bielefeld .

It is one of the citizens' radio programs and is produced by the media archive in Bielefeld .

It is the oldest community radio broadcast on this local broadcaster.

history

The idea and the concept for the Brackweder Funkjournal go back to Frank Becker , the founder and chairman of the media archive in Bielefeld. He had turned to the then head of Radio Bielefeld, Martin Knabenreich , with a request for the creation of his own citizens' radio program for the Brackwede district . Thanks to Knabenreich's support, the first broadcast of the Funkjournal could already be broadcast in the same year, in August 2002. At that time, Frank Becker had several guests talking about the “560. Brackweder Schweinemarkt ”. From the third broadcast onwards, the format with one guest at a time was switched to; although there have always been exceptions in the course of the history of the show.

The celebrity entrepreneur August Oetker was greeted in this way in the sixth edition of the Funkjournal . In the years to come, the number of nationally known personalities as guests on the show has grown.

Frank Becker himself was also a guest on his own show: for the anniversary of the 150th edition of the Brackweder Funkjournal he was invited by Bielefeld's mayor Pit Clausen u. a. been interviewed about his work as a film and media archivist and radio journalist .

In the course of its sixteen-year history, almost two hundred episodes were produced as part of the program. The radio journal never failed. However, this almost happened once when there was a fire in the studio while working on a television production in June 2007 . Frank Becker then took excerpts from an interview with the actress and singer Ilse Werner , whom he had interviewed in 1999 at the “Melodie-Filmtheater”, and thus produced a special edition of the Brackweder Funkjournal . It was the 61st broadcast in the series.

Since 2018, the show has only been called Das Funkjournal .

Concept of broadcast

As a rule, each program has a guest who plays an important role in public life in Bielefeld or beyond. The radio journal is designed as a talk and music program.

The interviews are individually tailored to the respective guest and cover different subject areas. It is not only about the public life and work of the guests, but also about more personal topics or general or more current events from (inter alia) politics , culture or economy .

The music portion, which takes up about half of the broadcast time, is also tailored to the respective guest in the radio journal . It is therefore also a matter of highlighting individual music preferences in the portrait of the conversation partner.

The individual episodes of the format are archived as contemporary documents in the Bielefeld media archive after they have been broadcast .

production

The Funkjournal has been produced since the third issue in the "Studio am Mauseteich" in Brackwede, which was set up by Frank Becker in 1991 and which was originally set up for productions with 16 mm and 35 mm films . The first ten issues of the program were still recorded on studio tape in analog form .

Becker acts primarily as producer , organizer and presenter of the show.

When selecting the pieces of music used in the program , Becker receives support from Wolfgang Springer , who monitors and advises them.

Becker originally took over the entire editing department in advance of each recording of a program. Since about 2014 stands out Mark-André Strunk responsible for the regular editorial staff of the broadcast.
