Bradley Ray Evans (born April 20, 1985 in Phoenix , Arizona ) is a retired American football player .
Player career
Youth and college
Evans attended Mountain Pointe High School in Phoenix and played football on the school team for four years. He scored a total of 54 goals and was temporarily captain of the team. In addition to school, he played for the youth football club Tempe Warriors for ten years. After high school, he attended the University of California, Irvine , where he graduated with a degree in social science and education. He was also a member of the university's college soccer team. He was named Big West Offensive Player of the Year in 2005 and 2006, and was named to the All-American selection in 2006.
While in college, he played for Orange County Blue Star in the USL Premier Development League .
Columbus crew
At the MLS SuperDraft 2007 he was selected by the Columbus crew in the second round. He made his debut for the team on April 7, 2007 against the New York Red Bulls . The trainer at the time, Sigi Schmid, described Evans as versatile. Overall, he was on the field 4 times in the 2007 season, as he was canceled due to an injury. In 2008 he was able to stand out as a regular player and was used in 26 games, scoring five goals. With the team he won the MLS Cup at the end of the season .
Seattle Sounders
Three days after winning the MLS Cup, Evans was selected by the Seattle Sounders in the Expansion Draft.
National team
Evans took part in the 2005 World Youth Championship with the United States U-20 team . The team was trained by Sigi Schmidt, his future coach at Columbus and Seattle.
In 2009 he was appointed to the team for the CONCACAF Gold Cup . There he made his debut for the United States national soccer team on July 4, 2009 in the first group game against Grenada . He scored his first goal on June 7, 2013 in a World Cup qualifier against Jamaica.
