Bradke is the name of an originally from Luebeck originating Baltic German noble family .

history

The aristocratic family traces its lineage back to Peter Bradke (1642–1708), citizen of Lübeck and artillery captain .

His sons Michael Detlef Bradke, Swedish colonel and later city commander of Lübeck, and Heinrich Niklas Bradke, first Swedish major and then Russian lieutenant general , were taken over by King Karl XII on November 17, 1718 . in the Swedish nobility raised . The diploma was due to the death of the king shortly thereafter until 23 March 1719 with the signature of Queen Ulrika Eleonora issued. At that time Michael Detlef Bradke had three stepchildren from his wife's first marriage with the businessman Peter Weckmann / Wegmann. These were Peter Wegman (1712–1758), Dorothea Catharina Wegman († 1746) and Janicka Wegman († 1746). These also received his name and the nobility. All five were introduced into the knight's house in 1720 under the number 1596 .

Michael Detlef Bradke's grandson, Friedrich Wilhelm von Bradke (1752-1819), was admitted to the register of the Oesel knighthood in 1778 . The family stayed in the Baltic States and the Russian Empire until 1918. One branch emigrated to France and lives there as de Bradke .

coat of arms

The coat of arms is split into blue and gold. In front (heraldic right) in the blue field it shows a silver rod of Mercury above the silver planetary symbol for Jupiter ( signum Jovis ); behind in the golden field an armored sword arm. The crest is an upright sword between two peacock feathers. The helmet covers are blue, gold and silver.
