The Victory Empulse is from 2015, the successor to the manufactured since 2012 electric motorcycle of the American manufacturer Brammo Inc. in Oregon . Since July 2015, the motorcycle has been produced by the Minnesota-based manufacturer Polaris Industries Inc., who bought Brammo Inc. The model belongs to the Group's motorcycle brand " Victory ". The motorcycle is considered to be one of the fastest production motorcycles with an electric drive.

Technical specifications

In order to keep up with the state of motorcycle technology, Brammo, the manufacturer of the motorcycle from 2012 to 2015, purchased high-quality components from suppliers in Europe. The aluminum bridge frame and the steel swing arm were supplied by the Italian manufacturer Accossato . Brembo manufactured the brakes, the 43 mm telescopic fork came from Marzocchi , the shock absorber was supplied by Sachs and the wheels by Marchesini.

The motorcycle, which Polar Industries will continue to build technically largely unchanged from 2015, has a wheelbase of 1437 mm and a steering head angle of 66 ° (caster 97.5 mm). A water-cooled, permanently excited Parker electric motor with a maximum of 63 Nm torque and 40 kW at 6000 min -1 drives, via a gear and a chain to the rear wheel. A gear shift is unusual for an electric motorcycle, according to the manufacturer it improves acceleration and range. The battery set made of lithium-ion accumulator cells has a capacity of 10  kWh and a voltage of 104  volts . Four batteries are attached above and three below the frame profile. The range is specified between 93 km and 206 km, depending on the driving profile. The usual charging times are 2 to 3.5 hours, depending on the state of discharge, up to a maximum of 8 hours. The life of the battery pack is stated as 1500 cycles or 100,000 miles .

The handling and acceleration of the motorcycle with 17-inch tires in the dimensions 120/70 (front) and 180/55 (rear) tires should correspond to that of a mid-range motorcycle with a 650 cc four-stroke engine. In American tests, acceleration values of 4.8 seconds (0 to 60 mph ~ 96.6 km / h) and a top speed of 165.8 km / h were measured. In the MOTORRAD magazine test, 8.8 seconds were measured in standard mode and 5.6 seconds in sport mode (for 0 to 100 km / h); the top speed was between 158 and 172 km / h, depending on the model.

Brammo Empulse R

The Brammo Empulse R but also provides 40 kW at a speed of 4,500 min -1 instead of 6.000 min -1 and therefore a higher torque has (90 Nm).

Others

In September 2014, Brammo invested three million US dollars in a discount campaign "to pave the European market for high-end electric motorcycles on a sustainable basis".
