Brandon is a Constituted City in Douglas County , Minnesota , United States . With just under 500 inhabitants, it is the core of the much larger township.

The place, which was created in the course of the railway construction from 1879, was named from the original name Chippewa in honor of Stephen A. Douglas after his hometown of the same name in Vermont when it was founded on November 22, 1881.
