Branko Bedekovič (born March 14, 1973 in Eschenbach , Federal Republic of Germany ) is a former Slovenian handball player and current official . He was mostly used in the position on the left backcourt . He currently works as a sports director at RK Maribor .
The right-hander started at RK Razkrižje at the age of 14 and moved to RK Pomurka Bakovci four years later . From 1996 he first played for the Slovenian club RK Velenje , with whom he took part in the European Cup Winners' Cup in 1997/98 and 1998/99 . In 1999 he moved to the top club RK Celje , with whom he was Slovenian champion and cup winner in 2000 and 2001. In the EHF Champions League he reached the semi-finals in 1999/2000, 2000/01 and 2001/02. After three years he returned to Velenje and won the trophy in 2003. In the 2003/04 European Cup Winners' Cup, he reached the semifinals. In 2007 he was signed by the Croatian series champion RK Zagreb , with whom he won both national titles in 2008. After that season he signed again in Celje. In January 2010 he went to Austria to join HC Kelag Kärnten , where he initially ended his career in the summer of 2013. In February 2014 it was reactivated by Carinthia. In the 2014/15 season he played for HIB Handball Graz and then finally ended his playing career.
With the Slovenian national team , Branko Bedekovič took part in the 2000 Olympic Games and won the silver medal at the 2004 European Championships . He played 74 international matches in which he scored 112 goals.
Since 2018 he has held the post of sports director at the Slovenian club RK Maribor Branik .
