The Braunersgrüner Weiher is a four-hectare reservoir in the municipality of Höchstädt in the Fichtelgebirge in the district of Wunsiedel in the Fichtelgebirge . It is named after the village of Braunersgrün . To the east, the federal highway 93 borders Regensburg - Hof, previously the federal highway 15 passed directly by. The owner is the Sigmund-Wann Foundation in Wunsiedel. The pond is fed by the Dangesbach .

The fishing association Wunsiedel is used for pond management, the fish stock consists of carp , tench , pike , pikeperch , trout , white fish .

history

The pond existed as early as 1420; it was created at the instigation of the Oberhöchstädter lord of the castle Erhard Rohrer and was used for carp breeding at that time.

Pond cultural asset award

The reservoir water is not only important for pond management, it is also of outstanding ecological importance as a partially protected biotope with rare plants. The pond was awarded the title of Pond Cultural Property by the Upper Franconian Pond Cooperative and the Upper Franconia District in 2006.
