history

The Bredershof proceeds to Freihof 17th century back of the Junkers of the sex of Breder belonged, and the Frankish Hoftyp assigned. Breder or Bredder is a name that was first mentioned in a document in the 16th century. The Bredershof was one of the six free courtyards that once sent a jury to the so-called Markgedinge of the parish of Niederdollendorf. In the 18th century it was the seat of the judge of the office of Löwenburg von Weiler. Around 1840 the Bredershof was managed by a winemaker. From about 1882 onwards, after a change of ownership, it continued to serve as a winery , and in the following time additional agricultural land was purchased. In the summer of 1894 the operator received a license to serve wine and coffee. The "Rheinpavillon Brederhof" was built as a restaurant on an adjacent property on the swamp path. In 1936 the vaulted wine cellar was expanded. After the winery was closed, the Bredershof, which was the last winery in Niederdollendorf, was reopened as a restaurant in 1974. The formerly associated vineyards on Godesberger Straße became building land. In 1979 the property was extensively renovated after it was vacant in the meantime. From 1981 until the end of the 1980s it served as a gallery owner's exhibition space. Today the Bredershof is used again as a restaurant with indoor and outdoor catering.

The Bredershof was entered in the monuments list of the city of Königswinter on October 3, 1989.

architecture

The Bredershof has a two-story residential building, a quarry stone building that has been partially plastered since the end of the 19th century, with a half-timbered structure on the upper floor and a high hipped roof . At the rear there are room-deep angular attachments. The side windows were enlarged in the 18th century. The Bredershof also includes other buildings that are grouped around a courtyard with old trees: a wine press house , a half-timbered building from the post-war period and a newer gatehouse . The wine press house contains a T-shaped vaulted cellar and has been partially preserved with its original furnishings.
