The Broad beach Lilac ( Limonium latifolium ) is a plant from the genus of the beach Lilac ( Limonium ) in the family of plumbaginaceae (Plumbaginaceae).

features

The broad-leaved sea lavender is a perennial, herbaceous plant that reaches heights of 50 to 80 (100) centimeters. The leaves and flower stalks are scattered with star hair. The leaves measure 25 to 60 × 8 to 15 centimeters. The spikelets are one to two flowers. The calyx lobes are blunt. The crown is light purple.

The flowering period extends from May to July.

Occurrence

The broad-leaved sea lavender occurs in Eastern and Southeastern Europe as well as in the Caucasus in steppes and forest steppes.

use

The broad-leaved sea lavender is used as an ornamental plant for natural gardens and perennial beds as well as cut and dried flowers. The species has been in culture since 1791 at the latest. The 'Violetta' variety has dark blue flowers.
