Brett Butler (actress)
Brett Ashley Butler (* 30 January 1958 in Montgomery , Alabama as Brett Ashley Anderson ) is an American stand-up comedian and actress .
Life
Brett Butler worked as a waitress in Houston after a failed marriage . She also tried herself as a stand-up comedian. When she moved to New York , she made her first television appearances. She gained greater fame from 1993 in the lead role in the television series Grace . Her behavior, caused in part by drug use, led to problems in production and ultimately to the show's cancellation in 1998. She has since appeared in smaller roles; including in the third season of How to Get Away with Murder .
From 1978 to 1981 she was married to the steel worker Charles Michael Wilson and from 1987 to 1999 with the musician Ken Ziegler.
