Brian Jones (born July 2, 1980 in Chico , California ) is a retired American arena football player on the position of quarterback .

Career

After playing at Shasta Junior College for two years, Jones was recruited by the Toledo Rockets to the University of Toledo . 2001 saw little playing time as he was the backup of Tavares Bolden . In 2002 he was the starting quarterback and was able to convince with his high completion rate.

After college he went to af2 for the Memphis Xplorers . There he was the starting quarterback before he sustained a knee injury after nine games and was out for the rest of the season. He threw in his rookie season for a total of 1,578 yards and 22 touchdowns, in addition, he ran for twelve more touchdowns. In 2005 he was again the starting quarterback for the Xplorers. He scored 92 touchdowns through run and pass, with only seven interceptions. This is how he led the team to the championship. He was subsequently appointed to the Arena Football League (AFL), where he signed with the Las Vegas Gladiators . On January 20, 2006, however, he was released again. As a result, he returned to the Xplorers, where he again showed strong performances. He threw for 81 touchdowns and 3,937 yards, which were new season records. Afterwards he was again committed by the gladiators. He played 15 games, six of them from the start, throwing for 1,825 yards and 25 touchdowns.

After a season with the Gladiators, he was assigned to the Columbus Destroyers , but released before the start of the next season. The New Orleans VooDoo then signed Jones for their Practice Squad , but released him after three days. The Arizona Rattlers signed him on March 13, 2008, but released him in early April 2008.

After Jones announced his retirement from football in the meantime, he returned to the Manchester Wolves in af2 in 2008. After the season he announced his retirement, but returned to the 2009 season after the Wolves had problems in the quarterback position after injury. In 2010 he played for the Arkansas Diamonds , in 2012 for the Kansas City Command .
