Bridgeport is a city and the county seat of Morrill County in the US state of Nebraska .
history
In 1876 a bridge was built at the current location of the city to facilitate the transport of goods. This is how the place that officially became Bridgeport in 1901 was created around this bridge. As early as 1900, the place was connected to the rail network of the Burlington Railroad , which built from Alliance to Sterling . In 1901 the newspaper "The Bridgeport Blade" and the first school came into being. A new bridge replaced the first one in 1906. At that time, the Bell Telephone Company connected the city with Alliance in the north and cities to the west such as Scottsbluff. When Morrill County emerged from Cheyenne County in 1909 , Bridgeport became the county seat.
