The Conservatives, led by Stanley Baldwin , made huge gains compared to the 1923 election and became by far the strongest force. Labor, led again by Ramsay MacDonald , lost 40 seats. The Liberals , led by Herbert Henry Asquith , lost 118 of their 158 seats.
