Brixental peasant tarot

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Brixentaler Bauerntarock is a card game that originally comes from the Brixental in Tyrol and has now spread to Bavaria . A variant of the Farmer's Tarock is also played in the Stubai Valley in Tyrol under the name Dobbm (Tyrolean for Tappen ) and the rules differ only slightly from the Farmer's Tarock. Just like the Bavarian Tarot and Tapp , the Brixental Farmer's Tarot and the Dobbm are not part of the real Tarock games, but have adopted rules from the Tapp Tarock . The most fundamental difference to the real tarot games is the use of German or French playing cards instead of real tarot cards.

Game material

Traditionally, a 36-sheet deck of cards with a German picture is used for the game.

Number of players and distribution of cards

The dealer shuffles and then places the pile in front of the player on his right (the player in hindquarters) for cut. After the withdrawal, the cards are dealt clockwise . The Farmer's Tarot is played with either three or four active players. In a three-player game, each player receives eleven cards. Three more are placed face down and form the talon . In a game of four, however, each player is dealt eight cards. In this case the talon contains four playing cards. The eyes contained in the talon are called legage .

The card values

Stabbing power

The stabbing power largely corresponds to the eye value. Thus the Daus (sow, ace) represents the highest ranking card. This is followed by: tens> king > upper > lower > nine> eight> sevens> six. The ranking described applies both within the trump suit and within the other suits.

Number

The card values count just as many eyes as with the Schafkopf or the related Bavarian tarot. The ten with 10 eyes is only just below the dhow (11 eyes), but far ahead of König (4), Ober (3) and Unter (2). The so-called sparrows (nines to sixs) only play a role during the game due to their stabbing power, but have no accounting value at the end of the game.

Trumps

Constant trump suit is heart . The ranking of the card values is retained even within the trump suit. A change of the trump suit , as in the related Haferltarock , does not occur in the Brixentaler Bauerntarock.

Game objective

The goal of the declarer is to get more than 60 pips in tricks against his opponent, unless he has announced that he will get a higher number of pips. The opposing party always needs one eye less than the declarer to win. Another object of the game is to win a trick with the lowest trump (see below ).

Style of play

Basically, a declarer always plays against the remaining players. This applies to both the three-player game and the four-player game. Partner games such as Schafkopf and Doppelkopf do not occur in the Bauerntarock.

Stimulation process

After the cards have been dealt, each of the tarot players judges whether he is ready to dare to play a game, which he announces with the statement " I play! ". Explain to play more than one player their willingness alone, so goes Sumpern ago Into look .

When Into look a concealed Talon exchange takes place of the individual player. This means that the player may pick up the cards from the talon and discard a corresponding number of unsuitable cards from his original hand. The discarded cards are part of the player's tricks.

When Sumpern no Talon exchange takes place. Nevertheless, the talon counts as the player's trick. Such a hand game without taking up the talon doubles the game value. The buzzing can be outbid if another player declares that he will stab five more eyes , this in turn by announcing ten more eyes , i.e. 71 eyes. This can continue in steps of five until the announcement to take all the tricks . Whoever makes the highest bid becomes declarer. He then plays against the three other players who form a side against him.

Game opening

The first lead is always made by the player in forehand, i.e. the player to the left of the dealer.

Addition rules

Each other player must add a card of the suit played to each card played. So there is a compulsory color. If this is not possible for a player because he does not have any of the matching colors, he must admit a trump card: This is referred to as a compulsory trump card. The player who does not have the color in question does not necessarily have to take the trick. If a player has neither a card of the suit led nor the trump suit, he can deal any card.

mud

If a player does not get a single trick, he is mud . He must then also hand over the cards from the talon. Depending on the agreement, such a game loss is rated higher.

sparrow

If a party succeeds in tripping a trick with the lowest trump (six of hearts) before the last trick, the corresponding party receives 5 points; these points are deducted from the opposing party. If this happens in the last trick, 10 points are credited or deducted.

Billing

When the game is settled, the difference to 60 eyes is noted as the score. If one of the tarot players reaches more than 100 points, the current game round is played to the end. In the following, each of the losing players pays out the difference between their own score and that of the winner. The last placed player has to accept an extra penalty of 20 points.

Variant: Dobbm (tapping)

Dobbm is a variant played in the Stubai Valley, which like Brixentaler Bauerntarock, Bavarian Tarock and Württemberger Tarock is not part of the real tarot games. The stabbing power and number of pips of the card values are identical to those of the variants just mentioned. In Dobbm, too, one player always plays as declarer against all other players. The closest resemblance is to the Brixental variant: Dobbm is also played in groups of four, each player receives eight cards, four cards are placed in the talon and hearts are the constant trump suit.

Game material

Usually a 36-sheet deck of cards with a double German or Hungarian picture is played, so-called Tell cards.

Style of play

Play and add rules

The game announcer leads to the first trick. Every player has to show their colors. If a player cannot use the suit played, the player concerned has to trump (i.e. add a heart card).

Game types

There are basically two different types of game:

  • Dobbm : The declarer picks up the talon (referred to here as Dobb ) and discards four cards that appear to be inappropriate to him. Since the eyes in the discarded cards count towards the tricks of the declarer, a sow may only be discarded if a trump card is pressed together with her. If two sows are discarded, two trump cards must also be discarded.
  • Solo : The declarer does not swap talons.

If none of the players dares to play, each player says “Continue”, they are thrown together and the dealer deals again.
