The Brodaer Holz is a forest area in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania . It extends over an area of 860 hectares along the west bank of Lake Tollensee from the Neubrandenburg district of Broda via the municipality of Wulkenzin to the Penzlin district of Alt Rehse . The mixed forest area is part of the "Tollensebecken" nature reserve.

The terrain heights are between 15 meters at Tollensesee and 103 meters at Neuendorf. The relief was created after the last ice age by melting melt water and soil erosion. Erratic boulders also date from this period , such as the “Landvermessers Ruh” block near Gatsch-Eck with a volume of 14 cubic meters and a mass of 37 tons.

In the Middle Ages the area belonged to the Broda monastery and came into the possession of the Mecklenburg dukes in the course of the Reformation . They had a summer house built in Brodaer Holz in 1775, which is now the Belvedere . The forest area was a popular destination as early as the 19th century. Walkers and hikers could stop off at restaurants such as the old forester's house and the Jakobi forest restaurant. A bathhouse was built near Broda, and more bathing areas were built near Buchort and Gatsch-Eck, where there is now a campsite. The area is accessible via signposted bike and hiking trails.

Jahnstein around 1976

A memorial stone was erected in 1928 in honor of Friedrich Ludwig Jahn , who played sports here from 1802 to 1804 during his time in Neubrandenburg. He stands on the Jahnshöhe named after him.
