Bromophenol red is a chemical compound from the group of triphenylmethane dyes and is related to phenol red . It is used as an indicator substance that changes its color from yellow to purple in the pH range from 5.2 to 6.8. At a pH of 4.8, the absorption range is 435–440 nm, at 6.3 it is 574–577 nm.
