Bror Munck
Bror Oliver Claes Munck af Fulkila (born October 21, 1857 in Jönköping , † July 18, 1935 in Stockholm ) was a lieutenant general in the Swedish army .
Life
Bror Munck was the son of Colonel Carl Jacob Munck and his wife Henriette Ulrika Antoinetta Carolina Cederström. He married on October 20, 1886 in Stockholm Ebba Elisabet De Geer, the daughter of court marshal Louis De Geer and his wife Vendia Mariana Johanna Sofia nee Wright.
Munck opted for a military career and entered the Småland Hussar Regiment on April 20, 1874 as a volunteer. He attended the war school until 1877 and then the cavalry school in Strömsholm. On February 4, 1887, he became second lieutenant and on September 5, 1888, second lieutenant. From 1890 to 1891 he was commandant of a squadron and teacher at the cavalry school. After various other assignments, he was head of the cavalry school from 1902 to 1903. On January 22, 1904, he became a major in the Skånska Dragoon Regiment. On January 31, 1908, he was promoted to colonel and became the commander of the Crown Prince's hussar regiment. The promotion to major general of the army and inspector for the cavalry dated October 16, 1915. He was later commander of the 3rd Army Division. On October 13, 1922, he retired from active service as Lieutenant General of the Reserve.
During the Finnish Civil War was Munck 1918 there is a volunteer corps lead, but was it not dismissed from the service.
After retiring from active service, he worked as a sports official. He was chairman of the Central Federation of the Swedish Sports Federation and headed the Swedish equestrian squad at the 1924 Olympic Games.
He is also known as the organizer and leader of Munckska kåren , a secret right-wing paramilitary group that he founded in 1927. The organization consisted of 2,000 men under arms. A charge against Munck for illicit possession of weapons led to a judgment by the Stockholm City Court, which only imposed a fine.
