Bruce Manning (Author)

Bruce Manning (born July 15, 1902 in New York , † August 3, 1965 in Encino , San Fernando Valley , California ) was an American journalist, writer and filmmaker.

Life

Manning worked as a journalist mainly in New Orleans ( Louisiana ) for the Times-Picayune . There he soon met the writer Gwen Bristow , and in 1929 the two married in New Orleans.

Manning wrote four detective novels with her and published them under their names. Manning later went to Hollywood with his wife , where he also wrote some scripts . In 1943 he directed his only film, The Amazing Mrs. Holliday .

Manning later settled with his wife in Encino, north of Los Angeles , in the San Fernando Valley. There he died three weeks after his 63rd birthday on August 3, 1965 and was also buried there.
