Bruce Tuckman

Bruce Wayne Tuckman (born November 24, 1938 in New York City - † March 13, 2016 ) was an American psychologist, organizational consultant and professor at Ohio State University . In 1965 he developed a phase model for group developments , which he and Jensen added in 1977 to include a fifth phase ("adjourning").

Life

Bruce Tuckman received a Bachelor of Science degree from the Renesselaer Polytechnic Institute in 1960 . In 1962 he earned a Masters in Psychology from Princeton University and a year later a PhD there . Between 1965 and 1978 he held several postdoctoral positions at Rutgers University before moving to the City University of New York . From 1983 to 1998 he was Professor of Educational Psychology at Florida State University . Since then, Tuckman has directed the Academic Learning Lab at Ohio State University.
